Choosing a college felt overwhelming, like finding a needle in a haystack, until I discovered a strategy that changed everything. As a parent of a high school senior, I spent considerable time visiting various universities. Despite the impressive tours, I struggled to compare these schools effectively. To tackle this, I moved beyond online comparison tools and created a personalized comparison spreadsheet. I rated each university on key aspects such as size, cost, diversity, and course offerings, scoring them from 1 to 10. This method allowed me to see which schools stood out based on our specific priorities. Importantly, my daughter and I filled out separate spreadsheets to avoid influencing each other's evaluations.
